First learning under the supervision of Instrutor Cabeca de Coco from the Cordao de Ouro group, Nico's love affair with Capoeira started in 2007 when he was invited to a Capoeira Regional class at the Claremont Colleges.
From 2009-2011, Nico trained under Mestre Penteado in Rancho Cucamonga, also from Cordao de Ouro.
In 2012, Nico began training Capoeira Angola with Celador Jelani Lateef of the group Capoeira Angola Jogo De Cintura.
During the Summer of 2016, the group traveled to Oakland California to train with the group N'golo Preto Velho De Mestre Themba.
Mestre Themba is the only American practitioner of Capoeira who has mastered both styles Angola and Regional.
Nico began to instruct at the request of his teacher in April of 2016, and considers himself a keeper of Capoeira Angola and a perpetual student of this wonderful art form. Nico and the Capoeira family are now working to solidify the presence of Capoeira Angola in the Inland Empire through their work with Capoeira Angola IÉ.
