Joseph Fraizer
Shotokan Karate (1st Degree Black Belt) - Pomona College classes
Joe has studied with Sensei Ty Aponte and the USKL since 1998 . He received his Shodan in Shotokan Karatedo in 2002 . He began studying Iaido (Art of the Samurai Sword) through the USKL Dojo in 2011, and most recently (2016) Japanese Jujitsu with Shihan Ruben Marquez.
Academically, Joe studied Mechanical Engineering at California Polytechnic University Pomona. His many jobs include tutoring in math at Chaffey Community College for six years and engineering sales and spec design for Drymaxx Air. Joe was instrumental in helping with various designs for the new USKL Dojo. He currently works in management for an e-commerce company. He uses his knowledge of science to enhance and better relate the martial arts to others. He is an avid lover of science and art, and finds ways of combining the two in any way possible.
In his private time he visits museums, studies body movement, takes part in mud runs/themed runs, self-studies all sciences, and attends sci-fi conventions. He is open to all forms of training and welcomes all knowledge of bio-mechanical science application. For a number of years, Joe has assisted with the Shotokan Karate P.E. Program at the Claremont Consortium of Colleges.
